Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley says the success of the Caribbean Premier League demonstrates cricket’s ability to unite the region while providing economic and sporting benefits.
Mottley made the comments following the CPL final at Kensington Oval, where the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons defeated the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets to capture their first CPL title.
She described the turnout for the finals as overwhelming and said Barbados remains interested in hosting future editions of the tournament.
Mottley also stressed the importance of continued investment in sports, pointing to upgrades in training facilities and the construction of a new national stadium as part of efforts to develop Barbadian athletes.
