Jamaican dancehall artiste Squash has been released from federal prison in the United States but is now in the custody of immigration authorities as he faces possible deportation to Jamaica.
The entertainer, whose real name is Andrae Maurice Whittaker, was transferred to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday following his release from a correctional facility in Louisiana.
Squash had been serving a 27-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to being a non-citizen in possession of a firearm.
Although his criminal sentence has ended, the 6ix Boss must now undergo separate immigration proceedings, which could result in his removal from the United States.
No deportation date has been confirmed, and his immediate future will depend on the outcome of those proceedings.
