Fat Joe says his verse on Ja Rule’s 2004 hit “New York” was never intended as a diss toward 50 Cent.

Speaking on The Real Report, Joe said he had no issue with 50 at the time and insisted the long-standing interpretation of his verse was incorrect.

The collaboration ultimately contributed to a feud between Fat Joe and 50 Cent, with 50 later targeting Joe on his 2005 track “Piggy Bank.”

Years later, 50 Cent acknowledged that he had unnecessarily drawn Fat Joe into his feud with Ja Rule and praised Joe for his loyalty.
