Veteran dancehall artiste Capleton has been honoured with a proclamation from the City of Brampton in Canada, recognising his contribution to music and the community.

The proclamation, presented by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, praised Capleton for using music and the arts to bring people together and celebrate cultural diversity.

The recognition came during Capleton’s first visit to Canada in 11 years, where he performed at the Soul Food Caribbean Festival’s Fire in the Park in Ontario.

The dancehall veteran also attracted attention after making a dramatic entrance at the event aboard a fire truck, a reference to his longtime nickname, “The Fireman.”
