Cristiano Ronaldo has abruptly left Portugal’s national team camp, saying he will eventually explain the reasons behind his decision.
The 41-year-old confirmed his departure Wednesday following discussions with Portuguese Football Federation President Pedro Proença.
Ronaldo remained on the bench during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway on Sunday, while coach Jorge Jesus had also indicated that he was not expected to feature against Denmark on Thursday.
Despite his departure, Ronaldo wished Portugal and his teammates well, while promising supporters that he will reveal more about the circumstances at a later date.
